Mountain Top Motel

After reading the horrible review that someone posted I feel that I must respond so people aren't prejudiced by a guest who clearly doesn't recognize value , cleanliness and hospitality . We (my fiancee and I) had the pleasure of staying two nights at this great place. Admittedly , my first impression wasn't great - the motel has a bit of a "lived-in" appearance from the outside. Within seconds of arriving we met Peter outside and he gave us the key and told us to go take a look around. The furniture is not "typical" motel - style - it's real furniture that instantly puts you at ease . The room was spotless and smelled freshly scrubbed and I immediately stretched out on the bed (I am a spoiled brat when it comes to mattresses) and gave a sigh of relief - we found our room for the night! After completing check-in we started unpacking and Peter came knocking on the door to find out if we needed a ride to town to purchase anything - my fiancee joined him with a few other people while I looked at the maps of the Blue Ridge that Peter had graciously put together for me. After dinner across the street , we relaxed outside and chatted comfortably with the other guests. We slept so well that we immediately reserved another night for our return trip. The next morning , after breakfast , we spoke with Peter for a long time while we were packing up to leave - he gave us some wonderful ideas for stops along our journey and wished us safe travels. Our stay the week after was even better because not only did we know we had a clean , comfortable place to stay but we were also looking forward to sharing our adventures with Peter and Lori . I can honestly say that I enjoyed staying at this motel more than any five resort I've ever stayed at (and I have stayed at a lot of very upscale places). There are no frills here but you get so much more than you would get anywhere else . I have never experienced such hospitality and general warmth anywhere. If you are looking for a formal place with room service then you should just keep driving !!! If you want to make human connections , experience real hospitality and sleep in a quiet , clean room with an awesome bed then stay with Peter and Lori !

Room was clean and comfortable at a great price. Internet faster than most chains I stay in. Owner couldn't have been nicer. She even got me some crackers out of her pantry saving me a walk to store across the street when she realized I needed some to go with my dinner. If you want a big flat screen TV then this is not your hotel. If you want great value and wonderful service it is.

Fine motel. Service is very good. Laundry service is 15$ and worth it. Room is spacious with very good and very large bed. The a/c worked well too. Lack of power sockets. Shower room is a bit quirky but functional and was clean. Nice to seat outside during the evening, have a beer and a smoke after a long day of driving. Just one thing- do not go and eat at the restaurant across the road. I went there and it was terrible!

Really nice place. Safe and clean. Great views. Enjoy coffee in the morning while sitting in the patio area! Great Italian restaurant nearby too.

We were very pleased with our entire experience here. The lady that checked us in was very talkative. She walked with us to check our room. The room had a desk, dresser, queen bed, microwave, refrigerator, 2 chairs, flat screen TV and good wifi. There were also 2 chairs outside our room. We were satisfied with the cleanliness and we didn't see any bugs. The sheets and towels were older but we expected that for $55.
